Will I Know When My Car Needs a New Engine?

Yes, you will know when your car needs a new engine because we will tell you. We are the best auto repair shop in town, and we can inspect your engine thoroughly to determine whether it needs to be replaced or rebuilt. We can handle either task. Let’s talk below about the signs that your engine is in serious trouble. The sooner we address the problem the less engine damage.

Constant Overheating

If your vehicle overheats every time that you drive it, there may be a serious problem with the cooling system. In fact, it may be time to replace the cooling system if your vehicle is older. Other serious engine problems that cause the engine to overheat all the time include a cracked head gasket and a cracked engine block. These problems require a partial engine rebuild to repair them.

Excessive Exhaust

Your engine is hemorrhaging automotive fluid if you see excessive exhaust flowing out of the tailpipe. We recommend that you stop driving your automobile and have the vehicle towed to our shop. The reason why is that black exhaust means your engine is hemorrhaging fuel, white exhaust means your engine is hemorrhaging coolant, and blue exhaust means your engine is hemorrhaging oil.

Excessive Knocking

Another very bad sign is excessive knocking in the engine while you are driving your automobile. This can mean that the rod bearings have worn out and the rods are crashing the pistons against the cylinder walls. This can damage the cylinder block extensively. It is important that you bring your vehicle to our shop right away if the engine is knocking excessively.

Metal in the Oil

Do not drive your automobile if there are metal shavings in the motor oil. Driving the vehicle can damage the engine beyond repair in less than 30 minutes. In fact, the shavings in the oil are assigned that the engine is already damaged beyond repair. The engine parts are disintegrating into the motor oil as it circulates through the engine.

Significant Power Loss

Finally, if your engine simply cannot produce power anymore, it is time to replace it. There will come a point when the engine has reached the end of its life and no amount of repair work will restore it. This is the time to have the old engine removed and a new engine put in.

We can do that at our auto service shop, so call us today to schedule an appointment.
